  • Biotech firm Adimab announced the closing of a Series D financing led by Google Ventures with participation by previous investors Borealis Ventures, Polaris Ventures, SV Life Sciences, and OrbiMed Advisors. This is the first investment in biotech for Google Ventures. Bill Maris, Managing Partner at Google Ventures said, "Adimab's technology is truly groundbreaking, and we are thrilled to join their existing investors to support the company's growth."

    Envista, a provider of web-based software for infrastructure project coordination, has announced the District of Columbia is deploying Envista's map-driven application. Envista will enable coordination between the District's various departments and utility companies to optimize the construction planning process, reduce street cuts in newly paved roads, and save on paving costs. Municipalities continued to lead new customer accounts, which have included recent contracts with Pittsburgh, Sacramento and Winnipeg.

    FetchDog received a Maine Technology Institute Development Award to further develop its Direct Vet Marketing (DVM) offering. DVM is an e-commerce solution that provides veterinary clinics with the electronic infrastructure to create and manage an online ordering, direct marketing and fulfillment system for veterinary prescriptions and FetchDog lifestyle products. DVM launched earlier this year and is on track to roll-out to 50 accounts by year- end.

Its network of micro-publishers and bloggers has grown to more than 3,000 sites visited by more than 5 million unique users per month. Foodbuzz is headquartered in San Francisco, arguably the foodie capital of the world, and recently hosted the First Annual Foodbuzz Blogger Festival in its hometown.

    Handmark, creator and distributor of mobile applications and services, and Samsung Electronics, a leader in consumer electronics and information technology, announced the launch of a new Global Venture Fund to invest in innovative, market-changing game ideas for next-generation Samsung mobile phones. The fund will be managed by Handmark out of its Kansas City and London offices in partnership with Samsung Electronics. In addition to funding those selected, Handmark will also provide assistance with development, testing and certification, as well as distribution of the application through the Samsung Application Store.
