DFJ Leads Follow-on Funding for Flurry

Peak Pitch 2007

  • DFJ Leads Follow-on Funding for Flurry
  • Borealis portfolio company Flurry, a provider of mobile software and data services, recently closed a Series A round led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, a leading Silicon Valley venture capital firm. Borealis also participated in the round, adding to the seed funding it invested last year. The Company will use the funding to support further product development and customer adoption of the Flurry application suite.

This funding capped off a year of solid growth for the Company. Adoption of the Company’s flagship product has increased dramatically since its initial release in January 2006, with users in more than 200 countries. In September, the company presented at DEMOfall 2006, the premier event for showcasing promising new technologies. DEMOfall provided a valuable introduction to industry press, the financial community, and potential strategic partners, and served as a springboard to accelerate the Company’s market introduction and kick-off this round of financing.

Borealis Ventures announces the return of Peak Pitch: Mt. Sunapee on Friday, March 9, a free event that gives entrepreneurs and investors an opportunity to network on the slopes while putting a unique spin on the classic "elevator pitch." In the traditional elevator pitch, entrepreneurs take advantage of an unexpected opportunity to share an elevator ride with a potential investor and present their business idea. At Peak Pitch, a shared chairlift gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their business plans to a variety of venture capitalists, angel investors, and other experienced startup advisors as they ride up a mountain on a high-speed chair lift.

The Peak Pitch ’07 program will include a series of events to support entrepreneurial communities across Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. “Borealis introduced Peak Pitch as part of our commitment to strengthen Northern New England’s entrepreneurial community,” said Phil Ferneau of Borealis Ventures. “Peak Pitch emphasizes entrepreneurial passion, not Powerpoint, and helps entrepreneurs connect one-on-one with investors and mentors. Peak Pitch’s rapid growth to five events this year reflects the positive response that we have received to the Peak Pitch formula of focused networking, informed feedback, and plenty of fresh air.”

It’s not too late to participate! Please contact us if you are either an entrepreneur interested in pitching your business idea at Peak Pitch or an early-stage investor or other seasoned entrepreneurial advisor who’s interested in hearing such pitches.
