Flurry presents at DEMOfall 2006
|
|
Borealis portfolio company Flurry, creator of
technology that brings mobile email and
personal information to the masses, recently
presented at DEMOfall 2006, an
invitation-only
event that highlights emerging technology
companies. The DEMO format provides
each
participant 3 minutes on stage in front of
attendees to pitch their product or service and
vision. Such DEMO appearances in the
past
have helped catapult companies like Six Apart,
Palm, E*Trade, and Handspring to success, and
Flurry’s appearance at DEMOfall 2006 provided a
similarly valuable introduction for the Company
to key members of the industry press, the
financial community, and potential strategic
partners. The following link will direct you to a

Flurry has been growing explosively since its
commercial launch earlier this year. Flurrymail (the first of a series of thin applications
developed by Flurry) offers a Blackberry-
like
email experience on ordinary cell phones so
consumers can access their email and news
while they are on the go. Targeting the mass
market of nearly 200 million cell phone
subscribers in the United States and the 2 billion
cell phone subscribers worldwide, Flurrymail is
handset agnostic and remarkably easy to use. Flurrymail earlier this year won the
important “Duke’s Choice Award for Innovation”
at Sun Microsystems’s 2006 JavaONE Developer
Conference.

Borealis Sponsors Greener Ventures Conference
|
|
On October 21, Dartmouth College hosted its
annual Greener Ventures conference on
entrepreneurship. With this year’s theme
of "Risk: Winning and Losing in
Entrepreneurship," the conference explored how
entrepreneurs can identify, manage and
overcome risk. As in the past, GV2006 attracted
several hundred students, faculty, researchers,
and alumni from Dartmouth College and
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for a slate
of panel discussions, practical workshops,
startup presentations, and networking
activities. Borealis Ventures has been a premier
sponsor of Greener Ventures every year
since it
was first held in 2002. The Borealis team also
had a hand in the conference programming, as
Jesse Devitte, Phil Ferneau, Matt Rightmire and
Mark Sawyer all participated in one or more
sessions as moderators or panelists.
