Mark Sawyer - Entrepreneur-in-Residence Emeritus

Mark joined Borealis Ventures in May 2006 after serving as CEO of a Borealis portfolio company. In March 2007, Mark became the CEO VICO Software, a Borealis portfolio company. He continues to work closely with the Borealis team, bringing years of experience as a senior executive in the software industry, and applying that experience to help Borealis assess future software investment opportunities.

Prior to joining the Borealis team, Mark was president and CEO of @Last Software in Boulder, Colorado, where he led the merger between @Last and Google, Inc. in March 2006. Before @Last, Mark was vice president of worldwide field operations for design software maker Graphisoft (BET: GRAPHI) headquartered in Budapest, Hungary. From 1993 to 2000, he was with software industry leader Autodesk (NASDAQ: ADSK) of San Rafael, California, ultimately serving as the company’s vice president of the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (“AEC”) division. Mr. Sawyer has also served as the president of ManagedOps of Bedford, New Hampshire, a venture-funded application services provider now a part of Navisite, Inc. (NASDAQ: NAVI). Mark received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.
